The Committee Advocating for People with Special Needs is a non-profit organization with a team of volunteers who are dedicated to meeting the evolving needs of our special individuals. We are committed to enhancing their lives on a continual basis with opportunities for education, training and healthy lifestyle resources also openings to participate in sporting activities, practical employment involvement and on-going volunteering. Our objective as a committee is to positively support special individuals and their families through partnership with the Common Roof and social agencies.

Car Wash

Dentistry on West in Orillia hosted a car wash with all proceeds going to CAPS. The Special Olympics crew of Orillia raised $725.00 at this event. Also the Dentistry on West made a donation to bring the total to $1000.00. Organizers are challenging other dental offices to raise money for CAPS. Dr. Calvin Chu of Dentistry on West made a personal donation of $1000.00 at the car wash also.

CAPS Welcomes Fay McFarlane

CAPS is excited to welcome Lawyer Fay McFarlane to their team. Fay is generously donating her time and expertise and is extremely excited to come on board and help us bring this project to light. Working with Fay will help us to create the Community Service Facility that will offer life skills, sports and recreation programs to the Orillia community.

Common Roof Building

The Common Roof Campus with Clinical, Therapeutic and office space for non-profit agencies at 169 Front St. South and Community Services; including gym space with stage for sports, recreation and cultural activities; food program centre and community kitchen space; laundry and other amenities all working as a Social Enterprise Centre located on adjacent property at 75 Queen St. E in Orillia.
